The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently recognized physicians from all
seven Sparrow Family Medical Services practice sites for excellence in diabetes health care through the prestigious Diabetes Physician Recognition Program.
"We are honored to have earned this recognition from the NCQA and the American Diabetes Association." said Dennis Swan, interim president and CEO of the Sparrow
Health System. "Sparrow physicians are dedicated to performance improvement as a key element of their commitment to providing patients with the finest available
health care. The list of recognized doctors is the best place to check if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with diabetes."
The Diabetes Physician Recognition Program was designed to improve the quality of care received by patients and motivate physicians to document and improve
their delivery of diabetes care. To earn recognition, physicians must submit data that meets the program's key diabetes measures which include foot examinations, blood pressure and blood and urine tests.
"For a person with diabetes, the right physician can make the difference between living with diabetes as opposed to suffering from diabetes," said Alan D. Cherrington,
Phd, President of the American Diabetes Association. "Physicians who earn recognition through the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program have an established track record of providing excellent diabetes care."
